Outreach Service Opportunities
LHM Congregational Partnership Team Leader: With support of pastors, church council and team members, conduct survey in the fall. Learn best practices of other congregations. Be the point person during on-site assessment and release of 2-year strategic plan. Tracking and implementation will be key to success. LHM offers unique resources, particularly in radio, TV spots. This is especially helpful in reaching younger people and Latino audience, both audio and visual.
LHM Congregational Partnership Team Members (5): Support the LHM Congregational Partnership Team Leader in developing survey questions covering the appropriate ministries at St. John's, conducting the survey and implementation of plan.
Spanish Language Mission Development Implementers: Develops perceived opportunity statement to help circuit rider understand the needs in the local mission field. For example, ESL, Estudio Biblico, Spanish as a Second Language, Naturalization Classes and VBS. Recruit, educate and involve SJLC members to assist; help identify, train indigenous leaders. Share the Gospel in cell groups or house churches, move from mission of mercy to Word and Sacrament ministry. Identify neighborhoods and community contacts for the circuit rider.
Local Outreach Team Members (20) : Attend four hours of training and then partner with another team member as your schedules allow to contact our neighbors one time to determine what needs they perceive that St. John's can fulfill. The data collected will be maintained in a database to help structure further efforts within the community and ensure full coverage. This ministry follows the precepts from 50 Days Ablaze. Touching the 2000 closest households to our church within two years is a current congregational goal in line with the LCMS Ablaze initiative.
