Pastor Lopez's latest ministry report:
Looking Into the Future: Hola a todos! Our Hispanic Ministry is a busy one - so many things to talk about! Many new families have been touched by our ministry, getting to know the Lord and his salvation earned for us freely! We are in our third year of ministry, and approaching two years of worshipping at Grace, together with the many small groups we have around the Northern Virginia area. What a blessing!

We celebrated our second annual rummage sale recently, raising funds and meeting many new prospects. Our second "New Life Festival" took place at Grace church on a rainy day, but we had great participation from our sister congregations. Many families took the opportunity to have fun, listen to Christian music offered by our choirs and friends from the community, and enjoy lots of food and amenities.

Now, we are preparing for our third annual fundraiser on Oct 13, led by covenant church St. John’s in Alexandria. We will be holding the event at the American Legion Hall in Springfield, VA. A voice and silent auction will take place to bring more money for ministry needs. This is the perfect time for all of us to pray, participate, donate and make it happen! Your support is needed, and your presence essential for a successful fundraiser.

As you may remember, our District commitment to support the Hispanic Ministry is over this year. We will be missing their $50,000 yearly grant. We thank District staff for their support and prayers! It is now our time to bring our efforts together, to go on with this fruitful outreach taking place in Northern Virginia. The future is here; it is our opportunity to believe in it, pray for it, and be part of it! I thank present and past supporters and donors; we would not be here if not for you. Gracias mil!

The question remains: now what? Do we stop, slow down, tell the many Hispanic families that are part of the ministry that that is it? I know my answer: not at all! This is prime time and opportunity to continue, even if we are challenged financially. My family and I know and believe God will provide. We have seen it before: He always fulfills His promises. We believe together with many of our faithful volunteers and committed Board members that God will show that this ministry is His. It will continue to bring fruits of new souls and families into our ministry.

Over the next months, it will be crucial to work with one another and with Him, to share His story of salvation and forgiveness to a world that is falling apart and in darkness! It is our responsibility to be part of a time of renewal and liberation only found in the abundant grace of God. You are needed! Don’t be shy to ask how you can help; we aren’t afraid to tell you the truth. We need your prayers, talents and financial commitment to continue this spiritual adventure we took up some three years ago.

If you feel touched by this message, please help us with any kind of monetary donation. We depend on you, your talents and financial help. Don’t let this opportunity go by! Come see what God is doing among the Hispanic community and others throughout Northern Virginia. Please send any donations to St. John’s Lutheran Church / Hispanic Ministry. Hasta pronto!
