Worship Service 10:30 am begins September 3, 2023
Worship with Holy Communion at 10:30AM – Through St. John’s Gathering Ministry that oversees the worship life of our congregation, we are planning to continue with the one Sunday morning worship service with Holy Communion at 10:30AM.
At present, our average weekly worship attendance thus far for 2023 is 110 (not including midweek worship services – e.g., Lent, Holy Week, etc.). At this time, there is no pressing need to have an additional worship service due to increasing attendance. Far better to have one service that is comfortably full vs. two services that are uncomfortably empty. God willing, as more people return to in-person worship in the days ahead, we will be able to expand our Sunday morning schedule.
Live streaming of the Sunday worship service will continue.
Education Hour 9:15 am begins September 10, 2023
Learning opportunities for all ages will take place.
- Tots' Min (children ages 3-4 and Kindergarten) will meet in the lower level of the ECEC,
- Kids' Min (children grades 1-5) will meet in the upper level of the Education Center,
- Teens' Min (children grades 6-12) will meet upstairs in Room 305,
- Adults will meet in the Fellowship Hall.
Prospective Member Course - For anyone interested in making St. John’s their home congregation, a prospective member class will be held in the Library during the Sunday morning Education Hour (9:15-10:15AM) beginning on Sunday, September 10. “Discipleship 101” is a 7-week class that uses Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism to explore both our faith as Lutheran Christians and our life together at St. John’s, weaving together visits from our ministry servant leaders with our congregation’s mission and vision. St. John’s New Member Team, together with Pastor Meehan, will lead this course. All materials will be provided. Please register through the Church Office, 703-971-2210.
