Dear friends and members of St Johns…
We are unbelievably lucky to have the staff that we have at St Johns. I always knew that, I am sure you did also, but to witness how our staff is handling these unprecedented COVID times just proves it 1000% more. They take such good care of us! But who takes care of Pastor Meehan, Pastor Nass, Jennifer, Susan, Maritza, Janet, and Terri?
Enter the Staff Care Team! Formed about a year ago and chartered by the Council, the team’s responsible for encouraging, fostering, advocating, and planning for the overall health and well-being of Church staff in authentic partnerships and conversations with them. They create a safe space to share what is going well and what needs attention both professionally and personally for our paid and called staff. The team works in partnership together with the staff to enrich their positions and enjoyment of them, and to ensure their needs and the needs of their spouses and children are addressed.
Each member of the team is assigned a staff member, who they meet with privately, and then the team meets monthly to compare notes and determine if there are areas where we can provide support or assistance. This can be something of a personal nature or issues that affect the staff as a whole. In short, the Staff Care Team is there as a sounding board and “back stop” to support and serve our Servants.
As Council President, I meet with the team quarterly so we can exchange information and make sure we are all on the same sheet of music – while private, there is no intention to be secretive. We are extraordinarily blessed to have the team led by Christy Hoins and Lisa Marik, and team members Greg Auld, Sarah Finger, and Greer Putnam.
