We intentionally practice being disciples of Jesus on a daily basis. This involves seeking God's kingdom around us, listening for and hearing God's direction and invitations, talking with people, doing good in our world, and ministering through prayer. We encourage others to do the same. Three quick ways to learn more about living a lifestyle of joining Jesus on His mission are:
1.Ask someone at St. John's. Many people in the pews around you are experienced at being disciples of Jesus. Say hello and ask how they do it. Or, fill out the form here and we’ll get back to you.
2.Read the book. Several copies are available for loan in the church library and are given out during our membership class (D101). Purchase one wherever you purchase books. It’s a fast read that takes a life-time to explore. Books written by Greg Finke are:
- Joining Jesus on His Mission
- Joining Jesus on His Mission Show Me How: How to Disciple Everyday Missionaries
- Joining Jesus as a Family: How to Raise your Children to be Followers of Jesus
3.Try a missional community. If you use the form in question 1, we can connect you with an option that meets your schedule. Visit with others for a time or two. See what happens. Or, get a few people together and start your own group. We will gladly give you guidance and advice! Walking with Jesus is a personal experience and best learned on the journey.
