Searching for Balance

As the months stretch further during this weird time of quarantine, we are searching for the balance between “safety” and “living.” It’s a calculation that each of us are making every moment of every day. I want to see my family – but is it safe? I miss my friends – but is it safe? It’s very important that my children continue their education – but is it safe? Do we miss sitting in our cubicles at work? Maybe not – hah!

I love to sing and fellowship at St. Johns – but is it safe? When will it be safe? No one can possibly know. Deep sigh.

What I do know is that the church staff and the Re-opening Team led by Greg Miller, with team members Patte Crampton, Judy Weikart, Andrew Ehlers and Rachel Dancy, have done incredible work finding the balance between the “normal” life of the congregation and what is safe. Our thanks also to the ECEC Board and ECEC Director, Maritza Guerra, who are ably navigating the rules so that we can continue to provide their important service to the community. And finally, thanks to our ESL team, getting set to continue online, starting September 15.  We’re blessed that their work continues to evolve as we move sloooooowly through the pandemic.

You’ll see more activities pop up on the calendar – like the Campfire Worship on August 22 – and know that we continue to slowly, carefully move forward, with balance.
